Checking the old user profile though, which we have not yet deleted on any clients, the documents folder is empty. My first thought is that the documents were somehow being saved locally. But this user was updating and creating documents during this time. None of the 'missing' files are on the backups for the past 5 months. Now the twist: After checking backup logs for the old server, this user hasn't updated or created any new files since August of 2013. I know she might have deleted them, but I trust this particular user. She has 'proof' in that she has emails in her sent folder with the files in question.
Now we have a user stating that she has several files missing.
Offline files had to be turned on for this to work only indexed folders can be added to a library.Īfter the server upgrade, and rejoining all the desktops, we set this up again, but pointing to the new server. Under the previous domain, we had the Windows 7 documents library pointed to the users' personal network share. It's a small network of 14 clients, so it wasn't too bad. So as part of this upgrade, every desktop had to be joined to the new domain.
In doing so, we setup a new domain, as the old one was setup as. We recently upgraded from Server 2003 to Server 2012 (Jan 2014).
